Every time I hear this song, I remember being in high school, riding in my buddy’s IROC-Z, him with an ice cream cone in one hand, steering and shifting gears with the other, windows town, t-tops off, and this on the radio.
Try a winter fishing trip. You may not know why you feel so good afterwards but you will, and even if you don’t come across any spiritual insights you will at least have some fun and challenges that can make you a happier person. Just get out and live it up.
Last year, E and I spent New Year’s Eve drinking and dancing at a beach club. This year, we spent it in front of the fire watching rented James Bond movies. It was awesome.
I got out of the house on New Year’s Day to play a little disc golf. I tried out the new course at Pipestem State Park. I shot pretty poorly: well over par, but it was nice to be walking around outside. Olive got some exercise, also.
2012 is the first year in a long time I can’t say was better than the one before it. Here’s to 2013.
